Big dance night

It's time for the annual favourite dance hall in October again in Stara TrA3/4nica, this time with the new Hot Serenaders vs. Bratislava OndAej Havelka and his Melody Makers for a Big Band Battle of friendly hostile orchestras! As a novelty for all dancers, the Bratislava Hot Serenaders Orchestra (B.H.S.) as the organizer of the event, in cooperation with the Bratislava Dance School B-Swing, prepared a dance workshop of pre-swing dances. Dance lessons have been part of dance evenings for many years, but this time Mr. Kubriczky from B-swing and StanAik from B.H.S. decided to give visitors more time to learn. So far, the lessons have been short, only between dance rounds, but this year the workshop is scheduled at 18:30 for 45 minutes before the official start of the evening at 19:30. Goulash Open Fest 2019

Battle of LamaA

Malokarpatske namestie 9, LamaA, October 12, 9:30

On a meadow near the Bratislava Crematorium between the capital city's boroughs of LamaA and Zahorska Bystrica, two 19th-century superpowers will fight for victory. Austria and Prussia will once again join in the Battle of LamaA.

A historical re-enactment will commemorate the 152nd anniversary of the final battle of the Austro-Prussian War that took here place on 22 July 1866, during which the Prussians burned down the then village of LamaA. You have a chance to witness the battle right at the battlefield on the second weekend of October.

The two-day event starts on the morning of October 12th with a promotion parade of soldiers in period uniforms along the streets of LamaA. A wide range of activities will also take place, including a children's drawing competition and fencing-school for children. You will also be able to see how a military camp looked in that period, and afternoon and evening battle scenes are prepared as well. Historical moments will be brought back to life by enthusiasts from the various clubs of military history.

In narrated commenced demonstrations throughout the day, they will also explain the roles and activities of the historical army units of the Prussian, Saxon, and Austrian infantry, Austrian artillery or Austrian and Prussian cavalry. A handgun duel, hussar cavalry training and a lecture about the injuries from fighting will also take place on Saturday.

That morning of July 1866, the Prussian army began to attack LamaA and Dubravka with heavy cannon fire. At the end of the last battle fought in the war between Austria and Prussia, the Prussian forces were warded off. The ceasefire that meant the end of the war, saving Bratislava from a decisive attack by the Prussians. By setting a line of demarcation, the Austro-Prussian War terminated the fight for domination over Central Europe. Get familiar with the background, as well as the course of this battle which took place on the territory of today's Bratislava boroughs of LamaA, Zahorska Bystrica, Devinska Nova Ves and Dubravka.
